About Mariinsky

Establishing its own label has allowed the Mariinsky to reach an international audience, showcasing both Russia’s rich musical heritage and the finest contemporary artists. The Mariinsky label was launched in May 2009 with a groundbreaking recording of Shostakovich’s early opera The Nose. The release received unanimous praise and collected numerous international awards.

Producing recordings of the highest technical standard is a priority for the Mariinsky label. Each title is recorded in the magnificent Mariinsky Concert Hall, which has been widely praised for having one of the finest acoustics in the world.

The Mariinsky label forms an essential component in the future development of the Theatre’s activities in St Petersburg as well as around the world. The commercial operations of the Mariinsky label are managed on the theatre’s behalf by LSO Live with whom Gergiev also records in his role as Principal Conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra.
